Washing into awareness, it flows—
The light… the waves upon the beach,
Such wonderful gifts of sundrenched space
Unasked, this gift now wrapped in
Yellows, grays, and blues that
Stain my feet and hands and heart.
Pausing, I watch the curtain part,
Breath flows in and out—
Revealing something not yet seen,
Undefined as life or death….
Beyond and further still it goes.
I cannot sense its end
Yet know within this timeless hour
Something discernible is Here,
Terrible and fine and close….
Words cannot describe its glory,
Yet it moves my heart
For one brief moment–
Glimpse unblinking Eye of infinity,
Hear awe-full roar of many waters.
