The Sea and I Both Sigh

Some days I spend just floating….
Giving my heart to the sea,
Become One as we
See the distant horizon waiting,
Hear the waves lapping,
Sigh for something we can never have.
The sea and I
Understand each other’s quiet yearning.
We rest above unfathomed depths,
Some days restless in our storms,
Know eternal loss forever lapping
On continental shore and wind-swept beach.
We hold within the haze a love
So sensitive it breathes,
Stirs upon the morning dawn,
Gently holds all life within our swelling arms—
Waves rock the Earth’s gray-blue cradle,
Unaware of conscious will
Yet moved by will to live,
The Whole composed so deep within
We see merely the surface….
Creating, dreaming, floating.
