Summer is on the Wane

 Summer is on the wane;
Cold nights are here to stay.
Blue Moon won’t come again for three more years.
What is there to do but be patient and wait?

No longer is the sun casting shadows on the beach.
Where are the Moon and stars?
Maybe they won’t shine for hours….
What is there to do but be patient and wait?

Blue comes but will not stay for long,
Though it sweeps me into melancholy song.
There is no agitation in the air, only calm.
What is there to do but be patient and wait?

I am here alone.
Everyone that was here before has now gone.
Where is love in these evening hours of life?
What is there to do but be patient and wait?
