Twisted Words

As I heard him speak,
I knew he did not speak the truth,
Twisted words flowed out to hurt.
So broken was his heart,
He spoke with forked tongue,
Body crawling as a snake upon the ground.

Hypocrisy and lies disguised,
Clothed as light when heart is bare.
Truth is hung upon the scaffold,
While wrong is seated on the throne.
How long?  How long?

Truth hangs and forever hangs,
Suspended in the vibrant air,
Waiting hidden in shadows,
Patient over years,
Knowing mortal universe
Whether brief or long
Has slow and silent arc
Toward an end that’s just.
Certain is the outcome,
Bending toward a greater truth.
