First Snow of the New Year

Today was the first snow of the New Year,
Clinging to branches of the trees,
Lending lawn an innocence of light
Where no footprints mar the sight.
Now is the time to open to a truer self,
A new beginning calling out of white blamelessness.

It is a new day from the hour
Snow fell through clouds,
Floated down in silence with dawn,
Falling on lake, falling on ground,
All of it part of a larger Whole.

From where I sit inside the house
 Beauty widens
Opening before my eyes….
Beauty makes clear the Earth
Flows further, deeper into Universe.
As the snow, be still….
Quiet for an hour, but aware
Stillness occupies a white expansive space,
 Waits within you freshly innocent.
