Devastation Lingers

Devastation still sweeps the land.
I hear the lingering cry….
Pain still visible, the lasting scars
Unhealed by passage of the years.

In distant castle keep,
One lonely light still shines—
But the door is locked….
To live is to be conscious of spilled blood.

Fear rains from shadows
Creeping forth from sky.
Where once the land was strong and green,
Now hearts are shattered, reaching out to curse.
What unforgiving voice cries out for death?
How strong the need for vengeance,
Denies what healing power resides in Earth!

This is not yet finished….
Even more suffering shall unfold
Until wounds are healed in future Spring.
For now, there is no hope of peace.
