What Is Done And Left Undone

Weight of winter snow
Presses upon the crust of Earth,
Slows all creatures coldly
Trudging down the path.

Before the fire, I burn
Summer labor’s reflected wood,
Miracle of light and flame,
What is done and left undone.

The empty winter night exchanges
Questions… unanswered in the dark,
Spare witness in the whiteness and the silence,
Sinking, melting from the flame of love.

  1. Poem…lovely! Photo….. Beautiful! Perfect purity … snowy days too lovely and so precious.
You capture enui and the essence of these days in this poem…something sad and so ephemeral . The passing of time, of rebirth in the depths of winter…life’s circle.
